| Drywall
preparation starts long before you buy your first piece
of drywall. Once the old plaster has been removed from your
walls, now is the perfect time for upgrading your electrical
wires. Consider adding recessed lighting, electric heating,
air conditioning or phone and cable TV lines. Now is the
time to do it! |
|
| Now
is also a good time to install insulation. Consider installing
insulation in all the walls, not just the exterior walls.
That way individual rooms can be heated without heat loss
to the adjoining room. |
|
| Buy
corner bead when you buy the drywall. It is used to create
smooth, straight, finished corners. |
|
| Place
nail guards over studs to protect wires and pipes. |
|
| Drywall
dust is very messy and spreads throughout the house. Consider
separating your work area from the rest of the house by
setting up a 4 mil plastic dust barrier. Secure the plastic
to the ceiling using blue masking tape. Blue masking tape
is sometimes called painters tape because it can be easily
removed. |
